  • 1. BASIC PURPOSE  
  • Increase turnover (Topline Revenue) and grow market share through new business acquisition, ie: acquire new customers, new commodities and new service offerings.
  • Manage, maintain and develop a base of existing customers by building relationships across all levels of the buying unit.
  • 2. ACCOUNTABILITIES   
  • Integrate quality into the business by ensuring that every customer contact is a demonstration of absolute dedication towards providing first time, ideal solutions for the satisfaction of customer’s immediate and future needs. 
  • Exceed Monthly New Business Acquisition targets
  • Acquisition of new customers and market share
  • Generate sales leads through Cold Calling, Referrals, Networking and other tactics to secure new business opportunities
  • Actively qualify and pursue all sales leads and referrals to acquire new customers
  • Customer presentations on various service offerings
  • Negotiate with customers and prospective customers as per price guidelines, to maximise profit
  • Track market and competitor changes to identify growth opportunities and mitigate potential risks
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure industry leading service delivery
  • Structured customer onboarding, internally and externally, adhering to SOP, SLA, KPI and RFQ requirements
  • Maintain CRM tool, including but not limited to client interactions, sales activities and sales pipeline
  • Constantly develop and broaden both industry and general knowledge in an effort to better engage customers and match logistical services to their needs.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally to preserve the company’s reputation
  • Retention and development of existing customers and their share of wallet

Candidate Requirements

–        Matric / Grade 12 / NQF4 Commercial degree

–        Valid Drivers Licence and own Transport

–        At least five years’ sales experience in the Logistics and / or Clearing and Forwarding industry

–        Confident and Assertive

–        Able to manage conflict and overcome objections

–        Ability to cold call, build a good rapport with clients, problem solve and find a practical-solutions and work independently

–        Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)

–        Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills

–        Ability to handle rejection and stress in soliciting customers

–        Computer literate (MS Office, ERP Systems, CRM)

–        Report Writing and Presentation Skills

–        Excellent Negotiation Skills

–        Proven track record of exceeding revenue targets (payslips showing commission earnings)

–        Demonstrable understanding of the Logistics and / or Clearing and Forwarding industry

–        Above average knowledge and understanding of supply chains

–        Ability to sell on value and relate customer needs to service offerings

–        Above average hunter vs farmer balance

  3.2 Desired Requirements 

–        Contract negotiation and management experience

–        Experience dealing with bonded cargo and the various customs requirements and implications

–        Knowledge of 3PL, 4PL and 5PL solutions

–        Established network of customers to engage and target
