Driver Assistant
- Load vehicle according to the delivery schedule
- Verify all stock loaded against purchase orders.
- Ensure the loading checklist is fully completed and signed off.
- Load and off load delivery vehicle and ensure all items and supplies are properly secured.
- Maintain accurate records of the number of shipment/boxes on the vehicle and ensure that all shipments/boxes are delivered to their destination and empty pallets are loaded, secured, and returned to the warehouse.
- Monitor all traffic rules compliance and escalate unsafe acts.
- Maintain and clean the vehicle by washing it once a week, inside and outside, and ensure that the cargo area is cleaned and maintained to acceptable standards daily.
- Represent the Brand and always behave in a professional manner.
- Follows best practices for safety, both on the road, while loading or unloading a truck and when the vehicle is parked
- Should driver be unable to operate the vehicle, take over and drive the vehicle to safe area and obtain approval to drive from manager
- Ensure compliance to shopping mall house rules when delivering stock to stores and provide feedback to the line manager of any concerns.
- Ensure all equipment and machinery are well maintained, secured, and properly stored at all times.
- Ensure that all machinery is checked and in good working condition prior to usage.
- Report any damaged packaged to the store and line manager.
- Raise any stock concerns with line manager.
- Work together with other team members to ensure that team goals are achieved.
- Comply with Health and Safety requirements.
- Adhere to warehouse standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
- Adhere to housekeeping standards e.g., ensure all areas and the vehicle are free from wrapping, waste, and damaged stock.
- Ensure the inside of the vehicle is neat, tidy, and clean before leaving at the end of each shift.
- Handle all stock in accordance with stock handling signage, e.g. this way up, handle with care
- Ensure that damages are kept to a minimum.
- Record and report all damaged or missing stock to line manager.
- Perform other general warehouse duties across various warehouse functions as and when required in support of operational efficiencies and requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 required or equivalent
- A valid Code 10/14 Driver’s License and valid Public Driving Permit (PDP).
- Valid passport – advantage
- 2 years’ experience as assistant driver
- Will be required to drive 4 tonne and 8 tonne vehicles.
- Will be required to travel long distance within the borders of South Africa
- Resilience and physical stamina to lift, load, off load heavy, packages, and objects,
- Ability to work overtime including shifts and weekends when required.
- Experience with loading or offloading cartoon equipment an advantage
- Minimum 5 years’ experience receiving, picking, packing, checking, replenishing, dispatching stock in a warehouse environment is required.
